Oscar Night 2014

Last night was a favorite night for me....watching the Academy Awards.

I love movies, I love celebrities and I love fashion.  It's an exciting night of TV watching because I get to combine these loves into one big affair.

So, without further adieu, here are my favorite dresses of the night:

Amy Adams in Gucci

Cate Blanchett in Giorgio Armani

Emma Watson in Vera Wang

Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen

And then the darling of this year's awards season,
(this girl can't miss)

Lupita Nyong'o in Prada

I also want to add that this year's award winners,
Lupita, Cate, Jared & Matthew,
all gave the best, most eloquent acceptance speeches
I've heard in some time.
Hurray for Hollywood!

So tell me,
did you watch the Oscars?
Who were your fashion favorites?

  1. I didn't. It is too late on this side of the world when it starts but I've been catching up during the day.
I loved it. And it must have been one of those years that I think they touched the almost perfect... even when sothing silly happened - yes, Mathew your speach! - it was expected; and somehow I have a pang thinking how it will become harder and harder to get a better ceremony. It was friendly. Lovely. Funny. Touching. I'm really enjoying what I've seen so far.
I loved Angelina Gown. But then there's Brad besides and one - ME! - tends to get blindsided ahahaha
Men looked really dapper too. Can they make them more Hollywood Glamour than Leo? I doubt it.
Curiously the winner of the night - Lupita - gown didn't convince me; not until she started the stairs and she looked a Princess but it didn't flatter her at all in the upper part but she's blessed with that touch "whatever..." that some have and others - however great and wonderful they are - don't have.
    Glad you enjoyed it too,
    Teresa

  4. I saw bits and pieces but I totally agree with your choices! These ladies looked elegant and glamorous. I thought their acceptance speeches were very heartfelt and appropriate...no crazy or political stuff.

Very different show from most I think...classy but relaxed. Ellen was great!

  7. Hi Gina, Yes!!! I was up very late last night too! The Oscars are one of my favorite nights of the year. I can't get enough of the old Hollywood glam! I loved Sandra Bullocks dress, I thought she looked amazing! Loved her hair and makeup as well. I cried a few times and that's always a tell tale sign it's a good show. Jared Leto made me cry, so did Lupita's speech and I thought Pink was incredible with here Wizard of Oz tribute. Such a great night! Very tired today : )

  8. Yes, I also watched....love that Ellen, pizza delivery and then collecting tips in a hat..what a scream!!!

Cate's gown was the best, no one can top her for class and elegance. Her speech and Matthew's were wonderful, they are my favorites.

And how about that Bette Midler....she can still belt it out and she even cried at the end......what talent and sensitivity....love them all!!!

Lupita's gown was too grown up for her, did not flatter her at all. Sandra was gorgeous as usual.

The best was the group picture.....oh, that Ellen!!!

  11. I never watch the Oscars anymore. Honestly? I'm just so out of the movie loop these days that I never know a single one. I have always loved to see the red carpet, but this year I haven't seen a thing except what you posted here. I LOVE every single one of the dresses you chose. They are all simply beautiful.
