Awake

Last night, I saw Josh Groban in concert. It was the kickoff of his Awake tour. What can I say? He is so amazing. His voice is so smooth, so rich, it's like butter! What a blessing to have such a voice. I swear I was breathless at times just seeing & listening to him.

I also got to meet him and I got his autograph. You know, it's hard. What do you say to someone as talented as he? He was very gracious, very down to earth. You could literally feel the warmth of his personality just by talking to him for a few minutes.

His violin soloist, Lucia Micarelli, is an absolute marvel. Another amazingly talented spirit. Fantastic! This was, without doubt, a concert to remember!

A Marshmallow World

Several posts ago, I wished for snow. I do enjoy the cold, the snow, the winter, but what we are experiencing now is a bit much. This area has seen more snowfall in February alone than it has in an entire winter. It's almost suffocating. I believe we're looking at a total of 63.1 inches since February 2nd. The schools were closed for 3 days. Never in my entire life have I ever seen that happen before. The roads are just trashed. The DPW crews are working double shifts, but the stuff just keeps falling and falling. Two laned roads are reduced to one and quite slippery at that, the snow banks are so high making it virtually impossible to see around corners while driving, the wind is whipping and wind chill temperatures are in the negatives. This is definitely going to be a winter to remember! I found a quote today that holds a snowplow full of meaning right about now:
If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant.- Anne Bradstreet
I think it's going to be quite awhile before we see spring, but oh how sweet it will be!!

A fantastic find

I haven't blogged in quite some time. I don't know, I've just been so "out of it" lately.

Anyway, today I was just hanging out on the 'puter, waiting to pick my kids up from school and I came across something that I had never seen before....Rebecca Sower's blog! I have always, always been a fan of hers (after all, she was one of the first scrapping celebrities) and to find this treasure of a blog was just too much. To me, Rebecca's style never gets old. I still look through her idea books to this day for inspiration. Her books are so...well...inspiring, so full of thought and purpose. Every layout that she creates has meaning. Truly a scrapbook goddess that Rebecca is.

So, I hesitated, but later decided to link her blog to mine. (see under "blogs I read") I don't know, maybe it's hokey. I don't even know her, but I really do admire her and for me, that is reason enough.

Sans snow

I don't know what it is this year, but Christmas is coming with record breaking speed. I can't believe it's only a week away! I've got some last minute gifts to get, there's still some wrapping to do and cookies to be baked yet. For whatever the reason, I'm feeling so out of it this year. Could it be the lack of snow and warmer temperatures? Could it be that my whole rhythm is off because it seems more like fall than winter outside? The whole spirit of Christmas is eluding me with the weather like this. I need cold, I need snow, I need to be on schedule and I'm not. Jack Frost, Mr. Winter, Mother Nature, whoever is responsible....bring me some snow...please!

Shop til you drop

Tomorrow is one of those days that I wait for all year...the annual all girls, no kids, Christmas shopping trip with my mom & sisters. We are ready, we are armed & we are dangerous! Names, coupons, lists, you name it...we're ready to do some damage! Look out retailers...here we come!

The lost tooth

Last night, J lost his first tooth! I can't believe that my baby has lost a tooth already. Where does the time go? J was quite pleased that the tooth fairy left him a new Ricky Ricotta book and $2.00.
I was most impressed by the fact that the tooth fairy had the common decency to actually leave the tooth for me! She must be a scrapper! Somehow she knew that I would want to add that tooth to J's album. Score one for the tooth fairy!

Transplant

Since Susan has decided to discontinue blogs at her site, I took her advice and decided to transfer my blog over here. Never one to be completely computer literate, I'm slowling getting the hang of this. I can't believe how many entries I had to transfer...I didn't realize that I had blogged so much at the shack!
