The Year in Review 2012- Part 3

I hope you are enjoying my 2012 Year in Review posts.

I've enjoyed looking back, seeing what I accomplished this year,
although it has been hard choosing which
posts to feature.

This is my 3rd and final part of The Year in Review.
If you would like to check out Part 1 and Part 2
here are the links...Part 1, Part 2.

Let's see, I believe I left off with September.

In September 2012,

This one might be a good post to review
if you missed it, especially if you need a laugh.

Also in September,
our home was featured at Debbiedoos
for her home tours.

I was both honored & crippled with fear
at sharing our home with all of you.   lol
The kind comments left here & at Debbiedoos
touched my heart!  You girls are the best!

In October 2012,

I sewed this cute Jack the Pumpkin pillow.

October was a month for weddings...
my niece got married
and

the Mister & I celebrated our 20th anniversary!

In November 2012,

I put together a fall tablescape...

I also made these cute & silly candy bar wrappers

in honor of Thanksgiving.

In December 2012,

I got warmed up for the holiday baking season
and
 I shared a holiday favorite,

 2012 was an excellent year.
Thank you so much for being here with me.
I appreciate each & every one of you!

Here's to an awesome 2013!

Love is Sweet {Candy Buffet}

By now I'm sure you know that my niece
got married a few weeks ago.

I hadn't planned on showing the candy buffet
my sisters & I put together,
but my niece insisted that I blog about it, so here it is.

The wedding had a Fall theme,
so we chose candies in the colors of
orange, brown & yellow/gold.

My niece lives in Texas, so she didn't really have anything
to do with the buffet other than telling us that she wanted one.  lol

Needless to say, she was quite pleased when she saw it!

As you can imagine,
the guests really enjoyed it!

I thought I may as well show the wedding cake too.
The leaves & pumpkins were edible.
The leaves shimmered...they were gorgeous!

So there you have it.
The candy buffet & the wedding cake.
Love is sweet!

I really appreciate your visit.
Have a wonderful day!

Rich Colors of Autumn tablescape

Tablescape time!

This tablescape was inspired by the centerpieces from my niece's wedding.

My sister told me to go ahead & take a centerpiece
after the reception.
She didn't have to tell me twice!  lol

I let the centerpiece dictate the colors in my place settings.

•Wicker placemats from Pier 1.
•Napkins from Urban Style Stitches on Etsy.  I love these!
They are reversible...betcha can't guess what's on the other side?
•Red silverware was an engagement gift some 21 years ago.
•Purple dinner plates are Better Homes & Gardens,
found at Walmart a few years back.
•Red salad plates from Oneida Outlet.
•Pumpkin bowls from Michaels, I believe.
•Purple glasses from Pier 1.

Oh yes, the centerpiece that started it all!
I cannot take credit for the beautiful flowers.
It was our idea to have the florist use the
pumpkin baskets, but the rest is all her talent.

My sister stopped over the day after the wedding.
She was so surprised to see I created a tablescape
with the centerpiece.

With rich colored flowers that are soooo beautiful,
it was a cinch!

A little of this, a little of that

Well hello everyone!
It's so nice to return to the world of blogging.
I feel as though I've been away and out of touch for ages,
even it has only been 5 days or so!

First,  my niece's wedding was beautiful.
I wasn't very diligent about taking photos,
(you know, too much fun & all)
but I'd like to share a few.

One of the Bride....

and one of the Bride & Groom...

It was truly a special day filled
with love, family, fun & happy memories!

♥♥♥

Second, do you remember my Farmer's Market Tablescape?

The tablecloth I used was from Kohl's.
A representative from Kohl's saw my tablescape and asked if I
would consider adding their link to my post.
Sure! Why not?
I added the link for you here as well.

Kohls' would also like to give all my readers
a 10% discount to their online site, kohls.com.
This discount is good until
October 24, 2012.
Discount code is UBLOGTEN.

Isn't that awesome?

Last, I wanted to say that I have missed visiting
with all of you.  I don't know that I'll be able
to completely catch up on all I missed,
but rest assured that I will be back to making
my usual rounds to your blogs.

Here's to a great new week ahead!

The Wedding

Thank you all so much for your kind Anniversary wishes for my husband & I!    I really appreciated it!
______________________________________________________

Now, for a different wedding...........
My niece is getting married on Saturday!

I wanted to share a few things I've been working on over the past month or so.  My niece wants a candy buffet & no candy buffet is complete without a sign....

...so using an old frame from a garage sale, that I paid $1.00 for, I painted this Love is Sweet sign.  I then added a little fall prettiness to the corner.  Did I mention all the candy will be in shades of orange, brown or yellow/gold?

Now for the card holder...what to do?  Funny, this is my old birdcage that I was selling in my garage sale a few years ago.  At the time, my oldest sister pulled it out, told me I was crazy, & took it home with her!  Now that I see it again, I'm not so sure my sister is getting this back!  lol  Why would I want to sell this in the first place?  What was I thinking?

The bridesmaids are wearing gowns in a deep purple...eggplant actually.  My niece really wanted to play up the Fall theme.  So deep purple ribbon & some orange flowers are all this birdcage took to look pretty.  Still wondering about adding a tiny pumpkin...

Next, we have the place cards.  Round & round we went trying to find something we liked.  Nothing that a little crafting & a spray of glitter paint couldn't cure.

So there you have my wedding projects.  I can't believe the day is almost here!!  Hopefully I can get some decent wedding photos to share with you next week.

Have a great weekend & see you soon!

Showering Wishes (Hawaiian-themed Bridal Shower)

I mentioned last week that we were running all over town,
getting ready for my niece's bridal shower.

My niece wanted a Hawaiian-themed shower.
Give me a theme & I run with it!  lol

I wish I could have gotten better pictures,
but guests starting arriving & my photo taking came to a halt for a bit.

I spent quite a few hours cutting large tropical leaves from
green paper for all the tables.

Then, I added some fun themed items to the center of the tables.

My sister & I fell in love with this guy.
He's so ugly, he's cute!
I had to figure out a way to use him.

So, I covered a box with tropical fabric,
cut a slot for cards &
adhered our ugly fellow to the top.
I shouldn't call him ugly since I've now affectionately named him,
♥ "Oogula Boogula". ♥

Would you like to see the dessert table?
I wish the waitress hadn't left that metal cart in the background!

Let's go a little closer, because who doesn't love to see dessert?

See that vanilla cream fruit tart above?  One of my favorite desserts to make!

I want to know WHY that rainbow jello card is slightly askew.  Fess up!

Here is our bride-to-be, my niece, along with my daughter.

I think it was a beautiful shower and I hope you enjoyed taking a peek with me.

See you soon!

Family Wedding Cakes through the Years

Today, I am joining Stephanie at Angelic Accents for her
To Have and To Hold Wedding Party.

Last year, I shared my magical wedding gown for Stephanie's party.

This year, I've moved on to wedding cakes.
I thought it would be fun to share some of the wedding cakes
of my family members.

This is my parent's wedding cake, 1955.

My mom said is was very hot and humid that day
and the cake was practically melting.

This next picture I just had to include, also from my parent's wedding album.
Heaven forbid you have an Italian wedding without a cookie tray....

....and I mean a cookie tray that requires two people to carry!  lol

My oldest sister got married in 1980.
She had a waterfall cake and instead of the traditional bride & groom,
she had Annalee wedding mice atop the cake.

My second oldest sister got married in 1983 .  Her cake had a bridge.

When my sister brought her wedding album over to me,
she remarked about how ugly everything was,
especially the paneling & air vent over their heads
in this picture!  lol

What's even funnier is that when I opened my
oldest sister's wedding album and found the picture of her wedding cake,
I found the same paneling & air vent! lol
(It's true, go back up & look.)

I don't have a picture of my brother's wedding cake from 1987.
My sister-in-law is so non-sentimental, I was afraid to call
and ask for a photo of her wedding cake
for fear she'd say she's thrown away the wedding album years ago!
Yeah, I am serious.

My wedding cake, 1992, was a strawberry cheescake.

In 1992, I was not a fan of cheesecake, but it was the only request
my husband made, so how could I refuse him?
When he fed me that cake, I made the most horrible face
and I do believe I said, "I hate cheesecake" on the video.
I am proud to say, I now love cheesecake!

As a side note...believe it or not, the picture of my wedding cake was
taken in the same location as my two sisters' wedding cakes.
Thank goodness the reception hall remodeled by then!  lol

My niece is getting married in October 2012.
Her cake will most likely look something like this:

Wedding cakes sure have come a long way since 1955,
 haven't they?

If you enjoyed this post today
and would like to see more posts of wedded bliss,
head on over to Stephanie's blog, Angelic Accents
This party really is alot of fun to participate in.

Thanks for joining me today!
