Easter Home Tour 2018

Welcome!

With Easter being so early this year,
I decided not to waste any time decorating.
In fact, I started the minute I took down
my Valentine's Day decor.

Here's the tour
and I promise to keep the chatter to a minimum.

The living room & mantel:

I went with a yellow & green theme in the living room.
It's so nice to see some color in the house after all the white
of Winter, not to mention all the white
the Nor'easter left us on Friday!
Ugh.

The dining room & sitting room:

That's all I have for today.

Thanks for stopping by
and I do hope you're having
beautiful Spring weather where you live.

See you soon!

Easter Vignettes (Dining Rom & Sitting Room)

Happy First Day of Spring!

It's a beautifully sunny day here today, but it is chilly.

I can't believe how quickly time is moving.
Before I know it, my daughter will be graduating high school.
But let's not think about that just now,
as it is likely to reduce me to a puddle of tears.

I wanted to share some of my Easter decor with you today.
I think I decorated everything simply this year.
I promise to spare the chit chat,
pictures only.

Easter Mantel & Living Room 2016

Hello everyone!
I'm going to share my mantel & living room all decked out for Easter,
but first to my fellow Downton Abbey fans....

How wonderful was that series finale?

I'm so sad to see it go,
but I'm glad they let it go out on a happy, warm & fuzzy note!
I loved it!

♥♥♥

I think this is the first time I'm posted something
for Easter or even Spring for that matter,
where there's actually no snow on the ground.
We've had a very mild Winter this year.

Here's my very simple Easter mantel:

Everything I used was stuff I already had,
with the exception of the pink flowers.

I kept all accents to Spring-y pastel colors.

My coffee table vignette:

Ok, I seriously have an obsession with these birds from Target!
I have a few for Winter,  I have one lone Fall one,
and when my sister spotted the Spring ones,
she texted me & I nearly lost my head!

Book shelves:

It's always a pleasure to share with all of you.
Thanks for stopping by!

Spring Living Room

We are still desperately waiting for Spring around here.
It seems Mother Nature is playing tricks on us,
but at least my living room is ready for the big day.

I took the neutral basics of my living room
and accented with yellow & green
for a pretty Spring palette.

Some pillows I made, some I bought.

I've had this bunny for a few years now.
I love him!

The shelves of my entertainment center
got filled with Spring & Easter goodies.

Thanks for popping in today.
I'll have a separate post up for my mantel soon.

Have a super day!

Bunnies Are a Hoppin' (Spring Hutch)

Hello!

Can I start by thanking all of you for your
kind words about my Redbook Magazine feature?
You are all the best and really know how to make
a girl feel special.
♥♥♥

It's time to get this whole Spring/Easter thing going,
so let's do it!

Today I'm sharing my dining room hutch.

Pretty simple, using everything that I already own.
I'm sure you may recognize some of these items
that turn up in my vignettes from time to time.

I love the white bunnies that I bought from Hobby Lobby last year.
Funny, my husband is always telling me I have too many birds...
as if anyone can have too many birds!
Now he tells me that he thinks I may have too many bunnies!
Really?  Really?
Where does he get his stuff from?
Too many bunnies!
Who ever heard of such a thing?
:)

Here's a closer look:

I am absolutely amazed by how quickly the time is flying.
Can Easter really be just over a week away?
My goodness, we're still waiting for Spring to
arrive here in New York!

Thanks for visiting me today.
Have a bunny hoppin' kind of day!

A Spring Vignette

My home has been officially Spring-ified!
(Yes, I know that's not a real word.)

The snow is finally beginning to melt,
although there is some of the white stuff in the
forecast for today, and it looks like there
might be light at the end of this very cold,
very snowy Winter tunnel.

I'd like to share the blue dresser in my sitting room today....

I wish the background you see through the window was
green instead of white, but this is New York after all.

Everything I used here was stuff I already had on hand.
I always love it when that happens.

Have a wonderful day friends
and
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Easter Vignettes and A Short Break

Just wanted to let you know that I'll be taking a blogging break this week.

There's just so much going on...too much actually.

My kids are on Spring Break,
there's softball & baseball practices,
I've got to work Monday through Thursday,
lots of cooking, baking and preparing for Easter,
dinner with a high school friend,
and on top of all that, a trip to NYC!
All within the next 7 days.

I did want to leave you with a little
something to look at though.  Who wants to read a
post of all the things a person has to do
without a little something to look at?

So,
here's my coffee table vignette:

and the blue dresser vignette:

Take care everyone.
See you soon!

Spring/Easter Decorating

I wanted to share a little Spring/Easter decor today.

I feel like I am always sharing my dining room hutch with you.
I hope I'm not boring you with it.

Well, here goes anyway:

I didn't use anything new here at all.
I just put a lot of what I had together, but in a different way.
Which I guess really is the fun part of decorating...
seeing what you can do differently with what you already have.

I just kept everything to a soft Spring-like palette.
How I love those pink Mercury glass hurricanes!

I do think that Spring may finally have made its arrival
around here.

Happy Spring to you!

When You Can't Find It, Make It! (Bunny Pillow)

I don't know about you,
but sometimes
make that all the time,
I struggle to find what I'm looking for.

No matter what it is that I'm wishing
to buy for this room or that room,
it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Take for instance, my desire to have
a Spring pillow for my sitting room sofa.
Yes, as simple as a Spring pillow.

I couldn't find a single one in the area!

How could that be, you ask?
I wish I knew the answer.
It's a conspiracy, I tell you.

I had to take matters into my own hands.

I bought a ready made pillow cover in Hobby Lobby
in a nice neutral color.

Then I found a bunny template online
and traced him onto cream colored fleece.

I pinned my cutout to the front of the pillow
and then I hand stitched the bunny to the front of it.
(I'm no sewing goddess, I just took my time
and did the best I could.)

Here he is!

Like I said, sometimes you just have to take
matters into your own hands.
He may not be perfect,
but he's cute & just what I was looking for.

Spring Mantel 2014

I'm not going to complain.
No, I'm not going to say it.
 I won't.

I'm just going to share my SPRING Mantel with you.
Emphasis on the word SPRING.

If you've been reading here awhile, if you know
anything about me or where I live,
I think that alone should tell you what I'm not going to say today.

This mantel is a simple one.

It all started with the burlap bunny banner on the mirror.

Here's a close up:

About a month ago, I was shopping at Target
and I came across this banner.
It was quite inexpensive ($5.99?),
I ogled it a bit,  then walked away.

But...
I later came back to it.
My daughter commented,
"You can make that yourself."
(Oh, that kid is well trained.)

But...
for the price, I couldn't resist the lure of not
having to do anything but hang the darn thing.
So I bought it.

I then added some vases full of dogwood blooms to each end.
I added a burlap strip across the vases so
that they would coordinate with my burlap bunny banner.
I also added my wooden candle holders.

I remembered we have a supply of old windows
in the garage, just waiting for inspiration to strike me.
This window was an old one from our dining room.
It made its way to the mantel, in its original paint condition,
along with a grapevine wreath that I threw together with moss and robin's eggs.

I found the cute white bunnies at Hobby Lobby
and added them as well.

It later hit me that I bought a burlap banner,
already made, at Hobby Lobby just
before Christmas.
(I was saving it, too, for inspiration to strike me.)

I pulled that out, simply tied on some colored ribbons
and called it done.

I really do love it when something
comes together easily.

I hope you are enjoying a beautiful
SPRING day today!
Emphasis on the word SPRING.
See you soon!
