Christmas Home Tour 2016

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Go ahead & grab a hot beverage because I've got lots of pictures
to show you today.
Let's do this home tour all in one post.
I'll even promise to keep the chit chat to a minimum.

Come on in!
Welcome!

We did several home projects this year which I, being
a sporadic blogger this year, did not share yet!
Hopefully you won't notice them here.

Let's start in the living room.
I went with a red, white & black theme this year.

Now into the entryway we go.

This old window is right next to the front door.

Straight ahead, you'll see my
"It's A Wonderful Life" themed vignette.

I have always loved this movie.
My husband, over the years, has come to love it too.
This vignette was so much fun to put together.

Now let's head into the dining room.
I pretty much always keep to a white, cream,
blue, silver & gold palette in here.

And the sitting room...

 Next up, the kitchen...

Moving on to the center hallway.

This little tree was all about pastels...
pink, blush, blue, mint, gray.

I even gave the bathroom shelf (below) some holiday spirit.

 Next is the master bedroom...

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas home tour this year.

It's always a pleasure to have you visit.

Merry Christmas!!!

Reality -vs- Fantasy

In my reality,

I look at blogs...or decorating magazines...or Pinterest
and I come across an image that makes me happy.
It's usually some space that looks like perfection to me.
Every piece in the space appears to be carefully selected
just to make me swoon.
The space always has such style and flair and
there is often some great handbag,
or even better, a pair of perfect shoes,
styled into the room to grab my attention.

 Kind of like this:

Do you see those well placed shoes on the right hand side?

In  my fantasy,

I wonder how it would feel to have a room in my home
look perfectly put together like that.
I wonder how it would feel to walk into a room and sigh
with contentment, seeing those shoes thrown off to the side,
luring me in.

Well my friends,
I am here to say,
my fantasy has become my reality!

I walked into my sitting room and chanced upon this image:

LOL!

Something tells me my son's LeBron James sneakers are not going
to help me achieve that image of perfection, no matter how
well placed they may appear!

I really hate it when the lines of reality & fantasy get blurred.  :)

Happy Memorial Day weekend, my friends!

Fall Bug

It would seem I've been bitten by the Fall Bug.

I think the Bug attacked a little earlier this year than usual.
It must be the ridiculously warm Summer we're having.
I'm left dreaming of...

cooler weather,
cozy sweaters,
rich colors,
comfort food
and
football.
(and I'm not even a football fan)

I just had to take a Fall journey and I'm dragging you along with me.

Thoughts of Thanksgiving

I have to admit, some time last week I started wishing for Thanksgiving. I really couldn't wait to have Halloween over & done with.

Now that it is officially November 1st, (and yes, I have already packed away my Halloween decor) I can turn all my attention to thoughts of Thanksgiving, that is until Christmas begins to creep up on me!

So I've been scouring the internet for pretty Thanksgiving ideas and thought I'd share some of them with you.

I love this centerpiece...a pedestal dish of pears flanked by roses.

The colors of this tablescape are so vibrant, I love them.

I love this vignette and wish I had a large vintage scoop so I could copy it.

Another pretty table.

White is always pleasing.

Now that the cobwebs have been swept away & the ghouls retired for another year, are you having thoughts of Thanksgiving?

Touche' Pottery Barn

Pottery Barn...that mecca of home decor. We all love it. We are all inspired by it. We are all prone to copy their ideas, putting our own spin on them.

Would you agree?

Several weeks ago, I got to thinking about my Christmas mantel. Hmmm...what can I do this year? So being the dork organized person that I am, I started sketching ideas so I won't be the "deer caught in the headlights" clamoring to come up with an idea for the mantel at the last minute.

I had a cool idea...involving a tree branch & some letters. (I won't share my sketch with you for fear that Carmelina from Creative Carmelina read this post. She's an amazing artist.)

I even prepared my husband, asking if he thought we could hang a tree branch from the ceiling over the mantel. (His reaction? Priceless.)

Anyway, yesterday I received my Pottery Barn catalog in the mail. It's a happy mail day when their catalog arrives.

And there right on page 91 was 90% of my idea!!

How did this happen?
Was Pottery Barn looking at my sketches?
Were they in my head?
Snooping around in my house?
Pottery Barn copied me for once?????

This is an outrage I thought! How dare they!

For all the times I copied them, most recently here in the Spring, I guess it's time to say,

" Touche' Pottery Barn, you got me!"

(Disclaimer: This is meant to be a fun post. I am not that demented that I think Pottery Barn actually copied my ideas. All in good humor.)

Have a most wonderful weekend friends!

Don't forgot to enter my Ramsign giveaway! I'll be drawing a winner sometime tomorrow.

What's on the table?

Every so often, I get something in my head and I obsess about it. Right now, I've got dining table centerpieces in my head.

I am constantly changing my dining room table centerpiece. I think I keep doing this because I just can't seem to find the right look. So then I obsess & start searching dining rooms on the internet. Yep, your dining room too...chances are I've been there. LOL

Here are some images I've found while stalking searching.

Candles. Flowers. Vases. Big bowls. Seriously, someone needs to have a "What's on your dining room table?" blog party, so that I can be inspired! :D

So tell me because I'm very curious, what's on your dining room table?
