Fall Dining Room & Sitting Room

I really don't know where the time is going!
I'm sharing more Fall with you today.
I don't think I'll have time to show you my
Halloween decor at this rate!

Here goes anyway....
(with very little chit chat)

The Blue Dresser

I have a thing for seasonal books & magazines.
This year, I decided to display all my Fall & Halloween
related books & cookbooks.
I loved having them all together like this.
It made it so easy to sit & enjoy them!

The Dining Room Chalkboard
(which by the way, I have taken down since this
photo was taken.)

And there you have it!

Thanks for stopping by to see me today.
Happy Halloween!

Winter Scenes Around the House

Winter, which, being full of care,
makes summer's welcome thrice more wish'd,
more rare.
-William Shakespeare, Sonnet LVI

And just who am I to argue with Will??
 ♥♥♥

I have shared my Winter Mantel
and my Winter dining hutch with you,
so keeping in the Winter frame of mind,
I thought I would share some
Winter scenes from around my house....

I have to honestly say,
I'm not completely sick of Winter...
yet anyway.

Once blogland erupts with sunshine filled photos
& gardens bursting to life,  I'll have had enough of
Winter.  (All the while, knowing full well
that we'll still have quite a ways to go
before we experience the same.)

Wishing you a happy day!

Thanksgiving Chalkboard and the Love of Pumpkin Pie

Happy November!

Can it really be November already?

Time sure does fly by.

I thought I'd drop in quickly today to share my
dining room chalkboard with you.
She's all set for Thanksgiving...

Although I'm no artist,
I had some fun with this one.

Mind if I share a short story?

As I was on my step stool, chalking away,
my husband yells from the other room,

"In the time it's taking you to draw that pumpkin pie,
you could have made a pumpkin pie."

Then upon completion of my "masterpiece" I hear,

"It looks nice, but it could have looked
even better if it came with an actual
pumpkin pie."

He's like living with a comedian, I tell you!!

The question now is...
Should I make him wait until Thanksgiving Day
for pumpkin pie or not?
Hmmm.....

Ready for Autumn

I've been ready for Fall for a few weeks now.

I know it's not right to push Summer aside,
especially when Summer is so short lived in these parts,
but when my calendar shows "September,"
 my mind automatically thinks "Fall."

Things were going along smoothly too.
There was a nice chill in the air.
 Until...this past week.
We had a couple of hot & humid days,
with temperatures in the 90s.
Ugh!

This left me wondering how it is that you girls in the warmer climates
can decorate for colder seasons/holidays when it's so darn hot outside.
It messes with the mojo, I tell ya!

Today I am happy though.
Today is a sunny 70 degrees...a perfect Fall day!

So I guess it's time to start sharing all the
Autumn goodness going on around here.
I feel like I've been a crafting & sewing fool lately.

I'm going to start nice and easy though,
with the dining room chalkboard.

I think this is my favorite chalkboard design to date.
I'm no artist, but this task seems to be getting a tiny bit easier
than when I first began.

So friends, tell me,
are you getting ready for Autumn, too?

Spring Chalkboard, I think

I've been giving my home the Spring/Easter treatment.
Thinking positively, thinking that maybe it'll help bring Spring along.

You know what?

It worked!

 Well...
for a couple of days anyway.

Yesterday was the best day of all.
Yesterday, the temperature was 49 degrees and
 the sun shining brightly.
Yesterday, the snow was melting.
Yesterday was perfect.

Yesterday, the weather complimented my
dining room chalkboard and
all was right in the world.

As for today,
well....
I'd rather not talk about that.

Winter storm be damned!

The Christmas Tour 2013

Hello my dear sweet friends!

Is this month flying by or what?

I thought it was high time that I took you on a little Christmas home tour.

Today, I'm going to begin with a few shots of the dining room.

Very simple, very neutral colors here.
White, cream, silver, gold.

My mom, oldest sister & I had some fun with the chandelier.
Kind of funny what happened really.
We were just wrapping burlap ribbon around it, haphazardly,
with no real thought involved...
just to see how it would look.
Next thing we knew, we grabbed the scissors,
we added silver bulbs,
and there you go...we loved it!

Nothing too fancy for the table centerpiece.
A lantern, a couple of silver glittered deer,
and a burlap poinsettia sit atop a silver beaded table runner.

On the other side of my dining room table is my
chalkboard.  I know I'm no artiste, but here's what
I came up with for this year.

I hope you enjoyed my dining room tour, this far.
I'll be back soon to continue my home tour with you.

Have a wonderful week!

Eat, Drink and Be Thankful

Just wanted to quickly share my dining room chalkboard with you.
I think it pretty much sums up the Thanksgiving holiday to a T.

Don't you agree?

Wishing you the happiest of Thanksgivings!

Spring on the Chalkboard (Shame, Shame, Shame)

With each season, I enjoy sharing my dining room chalkboard with you.

I am no artist and I never claim to be.

That being said,  I do have fun with this thing.

This time, I relied on the immense talent of the lovely Susan Branch.

I have her calendar.  I love her calendar.  I seem to think it was one of you sweet ladies who recommended it on your blog.  When I saw it this past January, I snatched it up.

Anyway,  I love this quote from her calendar, so I copied it.  I copied it down to the fancy "A",  the lettering, and the grass & flowers.

I should hang my head in shame for all this copying.

Of course, it's not as fabulous as Miss Susan's calendar page, but it's good enough for this non-artist at least.

And might I suggest, if you come across Susan Branch's calendar next new year, do purchase it. Please don't let my poor representation of it affect your decision.  It is truly the sweetest, prettiest calendar I've ever owned.   You will love it.

Thank you for your visit!  ♥
