Easter Mantel & Living Room 2016

Hello everyone!
I'm going to share my mantel & living room all decked out for Easter,
but first to my fellow Downton Abbey fans....

How wonderful was that series finale?

I'm so sad to see it go,
but I'm glad they let it go out on a happy, warm & fuzzy note!
I loved it!

♥♥♥

I think this is the first time I'm posted something
for Easter or even Spring for that matter,
where there's actually no snow on the ground.
We've had a very mild Winter this year.

Here's my very simple Easter mantel:

Everything I used was stuff I already had,
with the exception of the pink flowers.

I kept all accents to Spring-y pastel colors.

My coffee table vignette:

Ok, I seriously have an obsession with these birds from Target!
I have a few for Winter,  I have one lone Fall one,
and when my sister spotted the Spring ones,
she texted me & I nearly lost my head!

It's always a pleasure to share with all of you.
Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine's Day Decor

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching
and while I don't do a lot of decorating for this particular day,
I do like to add a little something to honor it.

I decided to give my dining room hutch a little
"love treatment."

♥♥♥

It's all very simple,  yet after decorating for Winter in mostly
white & gray, I have to say I'm enjoying the pop
of color the red is bringing me.

Happy Valentine's Day, sweeties!

Winter Vignettes

Hello friends!

Winter is in full swing.
We were lucky this time though, the big storm passed us by.
What a nice change!
We always get hit by the big snowstorms.

I'm sharing some winter vignettes from around my house.
I'll keep the chit chat to a minimum.
Grab something warm to drink & enjoy!

Winter Mantel 2016

Happy New Year, friends!

We are bracing for "a significant Winter event,"
as they like to say on the news.
I know this best as a BIG SNOW STORM!
We shall see what develops.

Honestly, up until right now,
we really haven't had much in the way of typical
New York winter weather.
I guess we've been lucky...so far.

Now that all the excess of the holidays has been
stored away until November,
I took the opportunity to get my Winter on
with a very simple mantel.

It all started with the wreath from Lowe's.
I found it after Christmas and I thought I heard it scream,

"Buy Me! I'm not just for Christmas, I'm for Winter, too!"

Obviously, I listened.  I'm glad I did,
because I love it.

See the white metal houses?
Guess what?
They also screamed,

 "Buy me!"

Again, I listened.

Lowe's needs to tell its merchandise to quiet down.
Perhaps I should get my hearing checked?

I do love how they look lit up at night...kind of magical, actually.
I should have taken a photo for you.

I added some mercury glass votives & pinecones to break
up some of the white, but overall, it was the simple, pared down,
Winter look I was going for.

Do you decorate for Winter?

♥♥♥

If it is Winter-like where you live,
stay warm!
Otherwise, enjoy your nice weather!

2015 Year in Review

I could not decide whether to post a year in review or not.
As I looked through my 2015 blog posts,
I realized there are quite a few projects from 2015
that I haven't even shared with you, yet!
I've been a bad blogger.

Well,
I decided to go ahead with the review anyway.
In place of all the home projects I've neglected to share with you,
(get ready to see them in 2016)
I have added special family events instead.
Here goes:

In March, I posted how I made a

My son went to his Junior High semi-formal dance.

I put together quite a few costumes in 2015.
The first was
"Edwina Scissorhands"
for a party my daughter attended in March.
They had to dress like a character from a movie.

In April,
I was completely honored to have my umbrella wreath

In May, my daughter was inducted into
The National Honor Society.

Also in May,
my daughter went to Prom and was
crowned PROM QUEEN!
(We were so surprised!)

In June, my son graduated from Junior High.

In July, I rescued a little side table that was perfect for my living room.

In August, I shared our

Back to the costume creations...

In October, my daughter had another costume party to attend.
This time, she wanted to be the
Mad Hatter.
We channeled Johnny Depp's version here.

Then for my final costume of the year,
my son had a costume concert at school.
He plays cello & wanted to dress as a garden gnome.

In November,
we took a trip to Orlando, Florida
for a well deserved vacation.

That pretty much sums up 2015 for us.

I'm looking forward to 2016
and sharing a lot of projects with you!
