Winter Mantel 2016

Happy New Year, friends!

We are bracing for "a significant Winter event,"
as they like to say on the news.
I know this best as a BIG SNOW STORM!
We shall see what develops.

Honestly, up until right now,
we really haven't had much in the way of typical
New York winter weather.
I guess we've been lucky...so far.

Now that all the excess of the holidays has been
stored away until November,
I took the opportunity to get my Winter on
with a very simple mantel.

It all started with the wreath from Lowe's.
I found it after Christmas and I thought I heard it scream,

"Buy Me! I'm not just for Christmas, I'm for Winter, too!"

Obviously, I listened.  I'm glad I did,
because I love it.

See the white metal houses?
Guess what?
They also screamed,

 "Buy me!"

Again, I listened.

Lowe's needs to tell its merchandise to quiet down.
Perhaps I should get my hearing checked?

I do love how they look lit up at night...kind of magical, actually.
I should have taken a photo for you.

I added some mercury glass votives & pinecones to break
up some of the white, but overall, it was the simple, pared down,
Winter look I was going for.

Do you decorate for Winter?

♥♥♥

If it is Winter-like where you live,
stay warm!
Otherwise, enjoy your nice weather!

  1. Your mantel is very pretty Gina! Mine is still bare except for the big mirror. Hopefully inspiration will hit soon. I love the wreath and metal houses you found at Lowe's. I need to get something going on mine. Maybe I'll just call it minimalist decorating :-) Hopefully the storm won't be too bad. Stock up on hot chocolate!

  3. No I don't decorate for Winter.
I like to have the house all for myself and kind of emptyish from decorations after the holidays.
Also I would have to take it down when we enter Lent Season so I'm holding up to Easter decor ahahahah
So I live vicariously through your full of light beautiful home and amazing decor ;). I love houses details in decor. And that wreath in indeed too good to pass. So glad you were listening ;) ahahahah Those welcome-winter touches make you happy that it's on your way.
    Stay Safe and Warm!
    Love,

  6. I love your all white mantelscape! Looks fabulous, especially that pretty wreath! I went to Lowe's the weekend after New Years, and got lots of really neat ornaments and tree picks for 50 cents each! They were $5 and up, regular priced. I only went in for wire to hang two pictures in my daughter's apartment! lol! I'm working on a post for my winter mantel... got to get back on that! :) Take care in the snow storm! ~Rhonda

I know we are supposed to have bad storms here in Florida and then it will blow your way in the form of snow.....Batten down the hatches!

  12. You know, I don't think I have ever decorated for Winter before. Not until this year. I started a new Instagram account recently and I have seen so much beautiful inspiration for Winter decor I was sold on the idea. Funny because I love decorating for the seasons. Don't know how I didn't think of it before. I guess I always saw my Christmas decor as Winter decor and once it was over it was all over...Hee, hee, hee. I did give Winter decor a try this year on my mantel too. I think I might share it. Your mantel looks beautiful and wintery. Happy Sunday Gina.

    Warm hugs,
    ❤️Ana

  13. Gina, things talk to me also. lol! But boy I'm glad you listened! I love the wreath and the houses. Perfect winter mantle! I do love having some winter décor till I pull out the Valentines. I think if you lived where it was warm winter décor would not work. But here we have lots of snow outside, why not a little inside as well?
    hugs,
    Jann

  14. Darling mantle decor, and sounds like you got a sweet deal too!!
Me? I do decorate for winter, but I'm trying to trick myself into thinking it's a lot closer to spring than it really is, so I'm using bright and cheerful colors.... Yay!!

Have a great rest of your week.
